Wildlife Charities to Support in Botswana
Through these wildlife charities, efforts can continue in the protection of wildlife in Botswana. As a result, future generations can enjoy the benefits of numerous natural resources.
1. Tlhokomela Trust
Founded by the Botswana government, Tlhokomela Trust prioritises wildlife and conservation of protected areas. Wildlife trafficking fight and support for endangered animals are part of the trust’s focus areas. The organisation has proved vital in the conservation of the diversity of Botswana’s species with an emphasis on eco-tourism.
2. Kalahari Conservation Society (KCS)
The mission of the KCS includes conserving Kalahari wildlife in Botswana, preserving species, and developing and informing people. Also, whenever the organisation is active in a particular place, all conservation communities participate. This makes the organisation a part of the people’s source of livelihood.
3. RCB
While Rhino Conservation Botswana has other objectives, it mainly focuses on the conservation and reintroduction of black and white rhinos in the country. Previously, some of the biggest rhino populations were in Botswana, but invasive poaching had greatly reduced their numbers.. Through breeding, the animals are again being relocated to the wild. DAC assisted RCB in cooperating with the government in extending the monitors necessary to safeguard rhinos in the Okavango Delta and other regions.
4. Botswana Predator Conservation Trust (BPCT)
The Botswana Predator Conservation Trust carries out what amounts to a scientific census of predators to assess their interaction with man. They are also involved in human-wildlife conflict by developing measures, including livestock protection. Such work is still useful to BPCT in the rehabilitation of the equilibrium across different systems.
5. WCN
WCN partners with conservation NGOs and the Government of Botswana to conserve unique species. Some of their interests include the conservation of elephants, wild dogs, and other species of high value in Botswana. They achieve this through the support of the inhabitants. WCN provides finance for local community support of conservation at the grassroots level. They also prioritise other causes, such as combating wildlife crimes and misuse of natural resources.
Conclusion
The support from donors and volunteers ensures that Botswana’s wildlife resources remain well protected and its natural heritage preserved. Your support can help preserve this unequalled wildlife. This way, you give the next generations a chance to enjoy the country’s natural resources.
