Mental health remains a global issue. Hence, taking care of our health by considering what we consume and what we do to prevent health challenges is important. Also, it is worth considering mental health charities when seeking worthy charities to donate to.

Indian Mental Health Charities to Support

Mental charities in India are up and running to curb stigmatisation in communities. These organisations also orient host communities to encourage those faced with mental disorders in their society. 

1. Action for Mental Illness India

ACMI is a nonprofit charity that advocates for people with mental illnesses in India. Essentially, the nonprofit lobbies for policies to suit those challenged with mental illness. They try as much as possible to reduce stigma in Indian societies by educating the public against stigmatisation and embracing mental challenges with respect and care.

The organisation envisions a society where the mentally challenged are encouraged to discuss their difficulties without fear of stigmatisation. Mindroot Foundation supports mental health awareness in various communities in India by organising seminars and workshops in communities to educate them on mental well-being.

3. SEARCH

The Society for Education, Action and Research in Community Health prioritizes mental health issues in rural areas across India. As a nonprofit organisation working to see mentally challenged people recover and join their families, they organise state-of-the-art psychiatric care for vulnerable communities. Also, The SEARCH provides diagnosis services and treatment to mentally disordered persons.

4. Mind Foundation

The vision of the Mind Foundation is to create a world that fosters a shared approach to mental wellness. The grassroots approach of this charity is to eliminate the stigma of mental disorders in Indian communities. Also, the Mind Foundation educates and provides moral support and medical care to mentally disordered persons in rural communities. However, the charity does not leave the youth behind. Their programs cover youth activities that enlighten young ones about the dangers of alcohol abuse, autism, depression, anxiety, and suicide.  

5. White Swan Foundation 

The White Swan Foundation works to raise awareness of mental health issues through well-researched projects. This nonprofit organisation partners with professionals and people with life experience. The nonprofit aims to provide effective guides for the mentally disordered. Also, the various projects by the White Swan Foundation span India and other countries, delivering best practices for guiding the mentally ill.
