The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) adopts socially responsible initiatives that align with the Authority’s core values of Integrity, Excellence, Passion and Commitment, Teamwork, Resilience and Personal Development.
Particularly, GSA stands out for its recurring support to hospitals. In previous years, the firm donated 100 branded bedsheets and toiletries to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital to help run its operations. 2. Mantrac
Mantrac seeks to empower communities and organisations through partnerships and collaborations. Also, the firm works to promote the growth of its operating market. The firm contributed to the construction of a borehole for the people of the BiakaKrom Ewusijoe community, in Ghana.
3. Toyota Ghana
Toyota Ghana, as part of its socially responsible initiatives, organised the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest for children below 16 years living in Ghana. By and large, the Contest which began in 2004 is a global platform for children worldwide to unleash their imaginations and creative potential. Also, the competition seeks to provide children around the world with a hands-on experience of the importance of having dreams while developing an interest in cars. In addition, the firm provided support to the Ghana Robotics Team From Dayspring Montessori.
4. PwC Ghana
PwC Ghana won the coveted “2014 Workplace Initiative Award” during the National Women in Finance Awards. Likewise, PwC Ghana’s CSR strategy highlights four areas to make relevant and significant contributions. This includes Community engagement, Environmental stewardship, Diversity and inclusion (People), and Responsible business.
Also, the firm invests in sustainable needs-based projects that enable PwC to live out what it believes while creating value for clients, people and the community.
5. G4S Ghana
G4S Ghana works to ensure that people operate in a safe and secure environment to enable them to thrive and prosper. Hence, the firm’s socially responsible initiatives prioritise supporting the less able in communities.
Also, G4S Ghana works with the New Horizon School for the Disabled and provides diverse support to the disability charity DESO (Disability Equipment Sent Overseas). The firm reveals that it continues to seek new and diverse opportunities to support the development of young people in the community. In addition, G4S welcomes unique approaches from like-minded community-based initiatives.
6. GT Bank Ghana
GTBank Ghana emphasises CSR as a key component of its business activities while ensuring optimum impact and sustainability. Hence, the bank focuses on four major pillars as its CSR strategy. This includes Community Development, Education, Environment and Arts.
GTBank Ghana is known to give back to the less privileged residents of its host communities. The goal is to ensure the overall development of the country. Also, a significant part of the bank’s earnings go towards supporting structures and initiatives.
7. Ernest Chemist Limited
Ernest Chemist provides quality pharmaceutical products at affordable prices. In addition, the organisation seeks to improve healthcare delivery by reaching every Ghanaian with quality medicine. Ernest also supports courses that promote good health, while maintaining ethical and environmental standards.
The pharmacy offers free medical screening. This includes Blood Pressure monitoring, Body Mass Index (BMI) and patient counselling on medication in all its retail shops (Pharmacies) across the country. Also, the pharmacy partners with other organisations to undertake activities that help to improve healthcare delivery in Ghana.
8. Societe Generale Ghana
The Bank has a global policy on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which is interpreted as To Care, to Share and, To Respect. At SG Ghana, Corporate Social Responsibility is a day-to-day duty and is viewed from an internal and external perspective.
Externally, the bank sponsors sports, health, education, art and culture and the environment. The bank is committed to the environment, fundamental human rights and social principles in all its operational areas. Hence, it seeks to ensure that projects are undertaken in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
9. Ghana Reinsurance PLC
The Company is committed towards the promotion and sustenance of capacity-building programs. Hence, Ghana Re donated GH¢50,000.00 to the Students Financial Aid Office, University of Ghana, Legon towards financing Academic and Residential fees. The fees are to fund the two beneficiaries of the Ghana Re Scholarship Scheme and other needy students.
10. Tema Tank Farm (TTF)
TTF is building a library for the Kpone Community in recognition of the importance of education in development. The library will raise the community’s educational levels and offer a comfortable learning environment.
TTF also built a modern Court for justice delivery to ensure peaceful coexistence. To guarantee that operations are efficient and sustainable, TTF promotes continuous personal and professional growth. This is by prioritising health and safety and respecting diversity.
